‘He listened to all the recommendation I gave him’ – Khune reward Ronwen Williams

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has praised Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

The 32-year-old Mamelodi Sundowns star was lately nominated for the Yashin Trophy changing into the primary South African footballer nominated for a Ballon d’Or award.

Since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Williams has been Bafana’s number-one keeper and over time, he took over the captaincy. Earlier this year, the former SuperSport United keeper played a huge role in Bafana’s Afcon campaign which saw them finish third in the tournament.

Speaking to the media, Khune stated Ronwen Williams’ onerous work was paying off.

“He’s a great guy on and off the field. Hard-working, someone who never stops to listen, someone who never stops learning,” he stated as per iDiski Times.

“I was with him for so many years competing for the number one jersey for Bafana and I think he gave me the respect, he listened to all the advice I gave him.”

Khune talks about Ronwen Williams’ Ballon d’Or snub

Williams was nominated on the Ballon d’Or awards, the place he finally completed ninth for the Yashine trophy retained by Emi Martinez.

“He’s now being recognised in the world, at the Ballon d’Or. I think he deserves it, he worked hard for it… and suggestions he was robbed? He was competing with the best in the world,” Khune added.

“So for him, in Africa, if it was CAF awards I would have given it to him because he’s done well and maybe that’s how he was judged.”

Khune stated Ronwen Williams has already achieved a lot and simply must hold his ft firmly on the bottom and hold working onerous.

Has Ronwen eclipsed Khune?
