VP leads prime officers, wananchi in paying final respects to former CDF
DAR ES SALAAM: Vice-President Dr Philip Mpango led prime public leaders, retired military officers, and wananchi on Friday in paying their final respects to the late former Chief of Defence Forces, General David Musuguri, at Lugalo Military Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
Other dignitaries attending the well-attended occasion included the Minister for Defence and National Security, Dr Stergomena Tax; ruling occasion CCM’s Secretary General, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi; former President Jakaya Kikwete; and retired Chief of Defence Forces, General Venance Mabeyo.
According to the timetable, the late General Musuguri will likely be laid to relaxation on Monday at his ancestral house within the Mara area.
Former Chief of Defence Forces General David Musuguri, aged 104, handed away on October 29, 2024, in Mwanza, the place he was present process therapy.
Born in Butiama, Mara Region, General Musuguri served within the army from 1942 to 1988 and retired as Chief of Defence Forces, a place he held from 1980 to 1988.

He started his army profession within the King’s African Rifles (KAR) as a non-public and later served with the KAR in Madagascar.
By 1947, he had risen to the rank of sergeant and served as an teacher at Kahawa Barracks in Nairobi, Kenya.
In 1978, General Musuguri led Tanzanian forces within the conflict towards Idi Amin of Uganda following the invasion of the Kyaka space in Kagera Region.
The wars he fought in included the Second World War, the Battle of Madagascar, the Kagera War, and the Battle of Simba Hills.
