Opposition Socialist Party president Fred M’membe has referred to as for the quick launch of former Patriotic Front (PF) Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri.

Mumbi Phiri has been arrested and charged for aggravated theft when she is alleged to have confronted Green Economy Minister Mike Mposha. He is in dentation in Kawambwa because the matter just isn’t billable.

But Dr. M’membe says there is no such thing as a case in opposition to Mumbi Phiri including that the individuals who dedicated against the law are recognized UPND Cadres.

“There’s no aggravated robbery Mrs Mumbi Phiri has committed in Kawambwa or elsewhere. Actually, the ones who committed aggravated robbery are known UPND cadres against Comrade Evaristo Nswima,” Dr. M’membe mentioned.

Dr. M’membe mentioned the matter was reported to police in Kawambwa on the day it occurred. He mentioned however so far, no arrests have been made.

“There’s no evidence, concocted or otherwise, linking Mrs Phiri to any aggravated robbery,” Dr. M’membe has mentioned. “We demand her immediate release. Such injustices should not be committed in our name, the name of the people of Zambia.”

Dr. M’membe says the police shouldn’t be an instrument for political vengeance by these in energy.

During the Kawambwa by-election, on the eve of the election date, Mumbi Phiri confronted Mposha who was suspected to be in possession of electoral supplies.

She has been accused that in the course of the confrontation a cell phone and cash amounting to K20,000 was alleged stolen.
