RDA UPDATE ON THE MOVEMENT OF COLD BOX UNIT ABNORMAL LOAD

The Cold Box Unit Abnormal Load, which is in transit from Katima Mulilo Border to Solwezi’s Kansanshi Mine, is as we speak anticipated to reach in Kazungula District in Southern Province.

The Cold Box Unit on Thursday thirty first October 2024 did a paltry 28 kilometres  from the purpose it had parked the earlier night time.

Motorists driving on the part between Mwandi and Kazungula Districts are urged to look out for the irregular load and train warning when approaching or overtaking it.

The Cold Box Unit is essential to mining operations and weighs 154 metric tonnes, together with the 2 truck horses and self-steering axles, leading to a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 224 metric tonnes.

This irregular load is 64 metres in size, 5.7 metres in width and seven.2 metres in top, making it one the biggest hundreds transported on Zambian roads.
