Orlando Pirates seems to have joined the race to signal Kaizer Chiefs goal Asanele Velebayi.

The 21-year-old attacker was closely linked to Amakhosi however the transfer didn’t materialise. Cape Town Spurs has since made him captain this season within the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Velebay is in Orlando Pirates’ books as they appear to hijack him from Chiefs.

“They (Pirates) want to build a very strong squad with at least two or three players in each position so that the competition is high and that helps the team’s performance as well. They have identified a few players and their new analyst has identified Asanele (Velebayi) as one of them. So they may be willing to sacrifice some of their fringe players in exchange for Velebayi,” stated the supply. 

Pirates to hijack Chiefs goal

Velebai stated he wasn’t centered on his failed transfer to Chieds however was desperate to get Spurs again to the PSL. The Urban Warriors have been relegated to the primary division final season.

“My peers, the likes of (Rushwin) Dortley, have done well. I don’t see what will stop me from reaching those levels or surpassing them. At the moment, I’m focused on my job at Cape Town Spurs, but that does not mean I don’t think about the future,” Velebayi informed FARPost. 

It stays to be seen if Pirates or Chiefs can convey the younger attacker again to the PSL. Spurs will search for something above R10 million for his or her star participant.
