NamRa pays out N$75.1 million in tax refunds

THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRa) has mentioned that, in its efforts to constantly enhance service supply and clear the backlog of refunds on account of particular person taxpayers, the company efficiently paid out N$75.1 million in tax refunds to 50,804 taxpayers on 23 October and 1 November 2024, respectively.
Tonateni Shidhudhu, NamRa spokesperson, defined that these refunds ranged between N$100 and N$3,000 throughout all tax sorts.
“Currently, NamRa is preparing to process a third batch of refunds, expected to be released later in November 2024, covering tax credits from N$101 to N$100,000. The estimated tax refunds to be effected total more than N$200 million. This effort aligns with Section 94 of the Income Tax Act, 1981 (Act No. 24 of 1981) and reflects NamRa’s commitment to clearing the longstanding backlog, ensuring that taxpayers who meet their obligations are promptly refunded,” Shidhudhu mentioned.
He added that regardless of these efforts, refunds totalling N$60,911,304.61 for 31,162 taxpayers are at present on maintain on account of incomplete tax returns and banking particulars.
“We urge all taxpayers to update their tax records and banking information to avoid missing out on their entitled refunds. For assistance with submitting returns or updating bank details, taxpayers are encouraged to visit their nearest NamRa office or call our Call Centre at (+264) 81 959 4000. NamRa remains dedicated to ensuring the timely processing of tax refunds for all compliant taxpayers,” Shidhudhu concluded.
