Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga has been fired by way of retirement and changed by his Deputy Commissioner-General (DCG) Stephen Mutamba.

Matanga, was appointed in 2018 after the navy coup that ousted long-time president Robert Mugabe in 2017 and was meant to finish his time period on the finish in 2028.

Nehanda Radio sources say he’s being earmarked for a publish within the diplomatic service, a well-liked dumping floor for retired safety chiefs.

Mutamba in the meantime will assume his new publish impact 01 January 2025.

The appointment was confirmed by Dr Martin Rushwaya, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, in a Press assertion dated 20 December 2024.
