In a bid to reinforce meals safety and enhance livelihoods for folks residing with HIV in Nkhotakota district, Umunthu Plus, a neighborhood group, has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting this weak group via agriculture.

Under the “Njira Imodzi Project,” funded by Egmont Trust, Umunthu Plus distributed farm inputs to 300 folks residing with HIV within the space of Senior Chief Mwadzama. The beneficiaries acquired soybean and groundnut seeds, together with inoculant fertilizer, to help their farming actions.

According to Promise Msampha, Programmes Manager at Umunthu Plus, agriculture is a key focus space for the group. “We’ve observed that many people living with HIV face significant food insecurity challenges. We are dedicated to addressing these issues to improve their quality of life,” Msampha stated.

The distribution of farm inputs is a part of Umunthu Plus’s broader efforts to help folks residing with HIV in Nkhotakota district. The group acknowledges that meals insecurity is a big problem for this group, and that agriculture can play a important position in addressing this situation.

For Layson Chinduzi, a beneficiary from Mankhwazi 2 Village, the help from Umunthu Plus is a game-changer. “I’m grateful for the seeds and fertilizer. This will help me to produce food for my family and improve our livelihoods,” Chinduzi stated.

Rosemary Mng’omba, one other beneficiary from Damba Village, echoed Chinduzi’s sentiments. “The assistance from Umunthu Plus is timely and will go a long way in supporting our farming activities. We’re thankful for their support,” Mng’omba stated.

The “Njira Imodzi Project” is a testomony to the impression that native organizations can have in supporting weak communities. By offering farm inputs and different types of help, Umunthu Plus helps to empower folks residing with HIV in Nkhotakota district to take management of their lives and enhance their livelihoods.
