However, the Ventersdorp-born Kaizer Chiefs legend is simply involved with taking part in for the love of the sport.
“Unfortunately, it’s becoming a trend that at a certain age and obviously with the bracket that you find yourself in when it comes to the payments, obviously clubs are looking into that nowadays and the older you are, the less money you must get. Obviously, those are the kind of decisions that you also have to make at some point,” Khune mentioned by way of SABC Sport.
“With my state of affairs, for years I’ve been studying and listening to that, ow, Itu has agreed to take 50%. So, for me it wasn’t all about cash anymore, it was about taking part in soccer and making individuals blissful like I’ve been doing therefore I’ve taken these wage cuts, I requested the membership.
“It’s not concerning the cash anymore, it’s concerning the love of the sport however there was nothing I may have finished as a result of the membership gave me the respect and mentioned, ‘You can go wherever you wanna go if you wanna continue playing.’
“I didn’t see myself representing any other team in South Africa apart from Kaizer Chiefs which I’ve played for, for my entire career. So, I didn’t see myself wearing another jersey,” Khune concluded.
