Former public protector advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has dumped the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to “spend time with family”.

Mkhwebane joined the Red Berets after she was impeached in September 2023. She grew to become the primary head of a Chapter 9 establishment to be axed.

In a press release launched on Wednesday, 16 October, Mkhwebane bid farewell to the Red Berets to relaxation and spend time together with her household.

“In my time of want, you fighters prolonged a serving to hand, bvecoming a refuge for me over the previous 12 months. Your unwavering help has been a beacon of hope, and for that, I’m deeply grateful.

“Now, it is time for me to focus on spending cherished moments with my family. Thank you for standing by me,” she mentioned.

Following EFF co-founder Floyd Shivambu’s resignation in August, Mkhwebane was among the many first members to dispel rumours that she had quit the party.

“Rumours by SABC News about me leaving EFF are fake news. I will never betray the fighters – my political home,” she posted on X (previously Twitter) on the time.

Mkhwebane’s husband David Skosana is an uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party member of Parliament and made his debut within the seventh administration.
