Go Be part of Zuma’s MK Party, ANCYL chief tells SACP’s Mapaila

African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) chief Collen Malatji has advised South African Communist Party (SACP) secretary-general Solly Mapaila to hitch Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

Malatji’s sentiment comes because the SACP has criticised the ANC for forming the Government of National Unity (GNU) with events just like the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Freedom Front Plus, as an alternative of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

MALATJI TELLS SACP’S MAPAILA TO JOIN MK PARTY

The SACP is part of the tripartite alliance with the African National Congress (ANC) and Congress of the Trade Unions (Cosatu) and has persistently campaigned for the previous ruling get together for nationwide and native elections. However, in December 2024, the organisation confirmed that it might contest the 2026 local government elections independently.

Speaking in the course of the Peter Mokaba memorial lecture in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, on Friday, 10 January, Malatji mentioned Mapaila and his buddies shouldn’t suppose that they will disposition the ANC. Instead, they need to be part of Zuma’s MK Party.

Malatji accused Mapaila of being a populist and insisted that the SACP belongs to the mass democratic motion.

“When we had been at 63%, they had been proud of us; once we had been at 57%, they had been proud of us. When we’re underneath siege, they go away us and be part of counter-revolution on the expense of our individuals. Solly won’t go together with any SACP; he discovered it right here. If he needs to hitch the MK Party with Floyd Shivambu, he ought to go away the SACP.

“People in the movement tend to believe that because we clap for them when they enter meetings and we sing for them, they think this organisation belongs to them. No SACP belongs to Solly,” he mentioned as the group cheered.

DO YOU AGREE WITH COLLEN MALATJI THAT SACP SECREATRY-GENERAL SOLLY MAPAILA IS A POPULIST?
