Dead humpback whale transported via Constantia video picture

Capetonians had been handled to a weird sight on Sunday morning of a posthumous humpback whale on a street journey from Hout Bay via Constantia.

Spencer Oldham, NSRI Hout Bay station commander, said: On Saturday, 16 November, at 09:11, NSRI Hout Bay obligation crew had been activated to help the CoCT (City of Cape Town) Marine Animal Stranding Network and the Department of Environment with a humpback whale carcass that was adrift offshore of Slangkop Lighthouse, Kommetjie.
 
The NSRI rescue craft Albie Matthews and Nadine Gordimer had been launched and the whale carcass was towed by NSRI Hout Bay to the Hout Bay Harbour slipway the place the carcass has been eliminated, on Sunday, by the CoCT Solid Waste Management, assisted by CoCT Law Enforcement, the SA Police Services and Cape Town Traffic Department.
 
A big pod of dolphins accompanied NSRI throughout the towing operation.
