DA insists Russia’s Vladimir Putin just isn’t South Africa’s ally

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has distanced itself from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s remark saying Russia is a worthwhile ally and buddy.

Ramaphosa is in Russia with different world leaders who’re a part of the BRICS group. He mentioned this throughout bilateral talks with Putin.

Despite being a part of the Government of National Unity (GNU), the DA mentioned it rejects this characterisation in unsure phrases.

DA chief John Steenhuisen mentioned the social gathering doesn’t think about Russia or Vladimir Putin an ally of the nation.
