Chaos erupts in North West municipality, speaker faraway from council

Chaos erupted on the Moses Kotane native municipality within the North West, as speaker Gugu Mtshali was forcefully faraway from the council chambers.

The council held a particular sitting on Tuesday, 22 October. The assembly was reportedly referred to as by the municipal supervisor, Mokopane Letsoalo, and never Mtshali, who’s, by legislation, authorised to name all council sittings.

According to The Citizen, Mtshali was anticipated to name a gathering on Tuesday. However, she determined to not proceed after the African National Congress (ANC) Bojanala regional government committee directed its caucus to not proceed with each sittings as they had been unprocedural.

Videos of the incident have been broadly circulated on social media platforms.

In the movies, Mtshali could possibly be seen questioning councillors in regards to the legality of the assembly as one other councillor, Maria Mtshaba, was appointed performing speaker to chair the unlawful assembly.

Mtshali will also be seen tearing aside paperwork and attempting to intimidate Matshaba as she continues the assembly. The speaker was then escorted by safety out of the council chambers.

The ANC in North West is but to touch upon the incident.
