President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has established a Commission of Inquiry to analyze the aircraft crash at Nthungwa in Mzimba, which claimed the lifetime of former vp, Dr Saulos Chilima and eight others.

Acting below the authority granted by Section 2, Sub-section 1 of the Commission of Inquiry Act of 2014, President Chakwera has formally appointed the fee to look at the circumstances that led to the accident and to deal with any associated issues as outlined within the phrases of reference.
