ANC to take motion towards populist leaders over BELA Act
African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says social gathering chief President Cyril Ramaphosa will take motion towards members who have been going round calling for the implementation of the Basic Education Laws Amendment (Bela) Act as if there’s doubt inside management.
Ramaphosa signed a proclamation for the complete implementation of the Bela Act into operation from Friday, 20 December.
MBALULA ACCUSES ANC MEMBERS OF POPULISM OVER BELA ACT
During a media briefing on Saturday, 21 December, Mbalula stated some members have been going round preaching as if issues wouldn’t occur.
“Even inside our ranks, there have been individuals who have been simply on high of their voices, BELA Act have to be carried out. There is management on this nation led by Ramaphosa of the ANC. Why would others communicate sideways as if there’s doubt about management that it gained’t be supplied?
“It is populist, and we will act against populism in the ranks of the ANC. We are observing it; it is not a plurality of ideas or intellectualism but populism. Why would any leader of the ANC not have confidence that matters of this nature are being handled and driven at a political level by the leadership of the ANC,” Mbalula requested.
ANC Gauteng chairperson Panyaza Lesufi and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane are among the social gathering leaders who’ve urged Ramaphosa to implement the BELA Act.
DO YOU BELIEVE THE ANC LEADERS WHO URGED RAMAPHOSA TO IMPLEMENT BELA ACT WERE POPULIST?
